2012: How to overcome hopelessness

"Vladimir Putin will once again be President in 2012," said Mikhail Kasyanov. "For six years, and then another automatic extension for six years. From the standpoint of today, I have no doubt that he will return to this position. The situation may yet change, but for the time being I have no doubt; moreover, every day I get new evidence on the basis of those statements that I hear from two persons on the top".

Leader of PDU noted that the main reason for Putin's arrival in 2012 is hopelessness within the framework of his own system. "The only possible way out is to rely on democratic forces, which do not want the destruction of the country and will provide for stability. And then the way out for the society and for these leaders will be like in a normal, civilized country,"- he said.

According to Kasyanov, resentment in society and the negative sentiments of elites by 2012 will increase. "The government does not see what is happening. And sooner or later they will have to make their choice: either revolution or free elections."
